This summer, Taipei 1839 Contemporary Gallery welcomes four acclaimed Japanese female photographers—Michiko KON, Yoko MAZUKI, Ayano SUDO, and Mika KAN. From surreal specimens interwoven with fish and plants, to poetic landscapes where human bodies coexist with flora; from magnificent and fantastical portraits to futuristic allegories of AI-replicated life, these four artists explore the boundaries of human existence, natural memory, and technological civilization from unique perspectives. They do more than just record the world through their lenses; they recreate it through photography. "Beyond the Visible: Imagining Nature, Identity and Future" is an imagination of otherworldly realms of viewing, and also a present-day vision of the future.
